The Village of Flossmoor, located roughly 30 miles south of Chicago, invited Pochis Bank Art Studio to participate in the unveiling of the village’s new brand at their annual Flossmoor Fest. They reached out to the studio having seen our pavement murals at various art fairs and wanted to make a similar statement to release their new logo.
According to Flossmoor’s Mayor Paul Braun, the village’s new logo symbolizes the “heart and soul of the community.” This roughly 12’ x 12’ piece of pavement art, prominently located in front of the Flossmoor Public Library, was filled in with Flossmoor’s signature green color. Studio artists Brandin Hurley and Shayne Taylor mixed tempera paint to achieve the exact hue of the logo, a favorite material of the studio as it appears opaque on sidewalks and will also wash away with water. The logo also included a white tree shape that represents both the town’s natural beauty and the strong connections woven between its residents. Studio artists painting the village’s tagline were able to witness it in action throughout the day: “Welcoming. Beautiful. Connected.” A photograph of the studio’s work and a story about the unveiling was featured in The Daily Southtown!
