Every fall, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics “sponsors the world’s largest meeting of food and nutrition experts” to address key issues affecting the health of all Americans. In 2018, the Food and Nutrition Conference & Expo was held in Chicago and Pochis Bank Art Studio was contacted by the Egg Nutrition Center and Eat Well Global to participate. These clients were interested in communicating how eggs aid in brain development throughout different stages of our lives and thought a fun, visual approach would appeal to those attending the conference.
Studio artist Shayne Taylor’s friendly graphic style was perfect for this project. Together with the client, the studio produced sketches that illustrated how eggs play an important role during pregnancy and infancy for brain health and cognition. This lesson, taught by a massive bowtie-adorned egg affectionately referred to as Professor Eggy, was executed using butter sticks. This material has the appearance of chalk, but is longer-lasting and won’t smudge if touched and was perfect for a high-traffic event like FNCE. Studio artists executed this chalk mural and interacted with conference attendees over the course of the four day expo.
