Chicago favorite Goddess and the Baker and creative outpost DesignScout contacted Pochis Bank Art Studio with the exciting opportunity to execute unique, hand-painted holiday windows for two Goddess locations. Goddess and the Baker is “a good food experience for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert all day,” and having spent two days in their Chicago locations, our studio artists can attest to this. For this project, the studio painted the inside of three windows between the Wacker & LaSalle location and the storefront at 33 S. Wabash.
DesignScout, an ongoing collaborator of the studio, initially reached out and asked if the NPB team of artists could execute holiday windows for these locations. They provided mockups for each window using roughly the same design with small variations depending on the dimensions of the window. In order to prepare for this project and increase efficiency for our on-location work, the studio printed flipped versions of these mockups to tape to the outside of the windows. After taping these designs, studio artists traced the images on the inside of the window using wax pencil and painted within the traced lines. The design surrounded the “Goddess and the Baker” logo on each window with gold ribbon, stars, a penguin drinking hot chocolate, and hand-lettering that read, “eat now, hibernate.”
Between three artists, the studio was able to finish the three windows over the course of two days. With their new white and gold custom glass painting and the holiday decorations inside, the Goddess and the Baker provides the perfect festive and cozy oasis for anyone craving a warm drink and a sweet treat this winter.
