Blue Door Farm Stand, a restaurant located at 2010 N. Halsted, has a mission to “let the seasons dictate what’s on the plate & keep the mileage between farm and table as small as possible.” They asked the studio to help illustrate this philosophy with a map of the farms where they obtain their ingredients and unique hand-lettering that describes their commitment to community. This chalkboard can be found in the stairwell of their Lincoln Park location and is high enough that our studio artists worked on scaffolding to chalk the mounted board. The studio also created a simple and elegant permanent sign for the restaurant to display outside.
When the folks at Blue Door Farm Stand opened a smaller takeout branch, they contacted Pochis Bank Art Studio about updating chalkboards for the space. This new location, Blue Door Farmstand Too, is right across the street from Lincoln Park High School and provides many of the same farm-fresh delicacies from their original restaurant.
The studio spent a few days with the boards on location at BDFS Too, adding illustrations to the boards and exchanging a few items and ingredients. As they now proudly serve Metric Coffee, our artists added Metric’s coffee logo as well as illustrations of a sailboat scene and sunny-side-up egg to the breakfast menu board. The “Little Sprouts” or kids menu now has an adorable illustration of three little radish children flying a kite. The studio’s final project for this location involved their main menu where our artists added a delicious-looking grilled cheese illustration and hand-lettering for items like their half-and-half combinations, “The Armitage” and “The Halsted.”
