Pochis Bank Art Studio was hired by Zócalo Group, a social media and digital marketing agency, to design and render a large chair-themed chalk wall mural to welcome their client, Art Van. In 2015, Zócalo merged its operations with global digital experience agency Critical Mass. Nancy collaborated with the client to choose over 20 chairs from the Art Van catalogue that the team could choose from to highlight on the chalk wall. Eventually, the group settled on 16 chairs and arranged them around the Art Van logo.
The first step in the process on-location was deciding on a balance of color and style. Nancy and studio artists Brandin Hurley, Grace Brandt, Emma Moss and Shayne Taylor organized the chairs so that the bright-colored, wooden, muted, and upholstered living and dining room chairs were evenly spread out across the work surface. The next step involved measuring and outlining each chair. Eventually, each artist focused on rendering in detail, using the black of the chalk wall to give the chair depth and the chalk to catch the light depending on the direction the chair was facing. Zócalo employees working on their pitch repeatedly stopped by as we put the finishing touches on this eye-catching layout.
