Interlocking Portraits in Progress

What has been happening since our last post? Lots of progress on several oil paintings, including the four shown here. (Check back later this week for a post including the other two.) The subjects are a sweet Lincoln Park family on their roof deck. These four oil paintings are each 4-5 feet tall, created in a format that allows the panels to be hung together or separately. Nancy and studio assistant Tracee Badway have been working on capturing the values in gray scale before adding color. Watch this studio news blog for the final color version in a few weeks. Chicago Public Artwork Goes International

In the summer of 2007, “Cool Globes: Hot Ideas for a Cooler Planet” was launched in Chicago. Nancy Pochis Bank was among an international group of artists selected by the jury to design and create a globe to be displayed in the lakefront exhibit.

Since the start of the "Cool Globes" project, Nancy has created four 5’ globes that have been exhibited across the United States and internationally.

“Cool Globes: Hot Ideas for a Cooler Planet” is a non-profit organization established to raise awareness of climate change and inspire individuals and community leaders to embrace solutions. The public art exhibit features larger-than-life globes, each designed to depict a solution to global warming.
