Highland Park High School’s FOCUS on the Arts
This week, Nancy Pochis Bank Art Studio participated in Highland Park High School’s annual event, FOCUS on the Arts. Nancy, Amanda Paulson, and Tracee Badway, along with dozens of talented and enthusiastic HPHS students, created giant pavement art versions of masterpieces from Grant Wood and Picasso. Despite the frigid winds, both murals were successfully completed on schedule and enjoyed by staff, students and parents.
FOCUS on the Arts, which began in 1964, is a truly a community effort and a collaboration of the city, school, students and staff. It’s mission is this:
“…to increase appreciation and global understanding of the arts and of the professionals engaged in them. By supporting our high school we support the community. A community rich in appreciation for the arts. FOCUS has been the inspiration for lifelong interests in the arts, as well as careers, for many people in Highland Park and beyond. It is our goal to continue this tradition of creating the artists and art audiences of the future.” (source)
