Colombian Exposition Chalkboard

Nancy Pochis Bank Art Studio created this permanent 24×30 inch “chalk” board for a private home in Chicago. By using china marker rather than chalk , we achieved that sought-after ephemeral look in a permanent medium. We referenced photos and an actual ticket from the 1893 World’s Colombian Exposition and used the client’s own repurposed window frame to complete the project. Thanks to studio manager Liz Ahlem for her work on this project.

Chicago Public Artwork Goes International

In the summer of 2007, “Cool Globes: Hot Ideas for a Cooler Planet” was launched in Chicago. Nancy Pochis Bank was among an international group of artists selected by the jury to design and create a globe to be displayed in the lakefront exhibit.

Since the start of the "Cool Globes" project, Nancy has created four 5’ globes that have been exhibited across the United States and internationally.

“Cool Globes: Hot Ideas for a Cooler Planet” is a non-profit organization established to raise awareness of climate change and inspire individuals and community leaders to embrace solutions. The public art exhibit features larger-than-life globes, each designed to depict a solution to global warming.
