Portraiture
Nancy accepts several portrait commissions each year. Working in watercolor, oil or graphite, Nancy's informal and expressive style captures her subjects with dignity and intimacy.
Process:
At a preliminary planning meeting, Nancy will collaborate with the client to visualize the mood, setting, composition, and attire for the portrait. Next, Nancy will meet with the subject to take dozens of photographs. This allows her to get to know the subject(s) and experiment with a variety of poses and lighting. A few weeks later Nancy will have sketches ready to show the client. After approval of sketches and direction, Nancy will create a unique and compelling work of art. Once the painting is complete it will be framed according to Nancy's designs and specifications. The price of the frame is not included in the artist's fee.
Fees:
A $200 deposit is required to secure a place in Nancy's docket. Portrait pricing starts at $1,000 and varies based on size, medium and number of subjects. 50% is due upon sketch approval with the balance due at delivery of the completed portrait. Commissioned artwork other than portraits (e.g. custom architectural renderings, renderings of travel photos, personal still lives) are also available.
Nancy currently has a waiting list, and is accepting commissions for 2010 delivery. She occasionally honors requests to deliver for a particular occasion if adequate time is allowed.
