The Cool Globes Project
In the summer of 2007, "Cool Globes: Hot Ideas for a Cooler Planet" was launched in Chicago. Cool Globes is a non-profit organization established to raise awareness of climate change and inspire individuals and community leaders to embrace solutions. The public art exhibit featured larger-than-life globes each designed to depict a solution to global warming.
Nancy was among an international group of artists selected by jury to design and create globes promoting solutions to climate change. Each of Nancy's 5' diameter globes is painted with acrylic and sealed for long term outdoor display.
Nancy's first globe, "Nature Nurture" was purchased by Abbott after the exhibit and generously donated to the Lake County Forest Preserve for permanent exhibition. Her second globe, "Community Care" has been traveling around California and is currently in Los Angeles's Exposition Park in the Rose Garden through August, 2009. "Cool Globes: Hot Ideas for a Cooler Planet" project first displayed on Chicago's lakefront. The Cool Globes program, aimed at raising awareness for global warming, has traveled to San Francisco and San Diego and was most recently on view (October 8, 2009 – December 31, 2009) in Houston's newest urban park, Discovery Green.
